Palestinian Propaganda Is Pure Poison

The Real Poison Comes From Palestinian Rhetoric

The propaganda drums pound relentlessly from the Palestinian occupied territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip; more so from the “moderate” Palestinian Authority President, Mahmoud Abbas, rather than from his heated rival, radical Hamas. Yes, you read that right. It is the Palestinians who are the occupiers, not the Israelis, as documented in a few previous Eye of Prophecy articles with the real history, Scriptural and secular, of the Middle East.

Mahmoud Abbas has stooped to new lows in his increasingly desperate attempts to convince the entire world that the Israelis are exclusively responsible for the plight of the Palestinians in Israel. Several years ago he was more subtle and less aggressive in his rhetoric, with his strategy of persuading Western nations, especially European, that the Palestinians are the “good guys” and the Israelis the “bad guys.” Even then, most of what he said was pure propaganda based on lies or half-truths.

Webster’s Dictionary defines propaganda as: “the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person. Also, “ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one’s cause or to damage an opposing cause.”

Thus, some propaganda can be positive and constructive. However, you can be sure that there are precious few facts and a severe shortage of accurate information presented by Mahmoud Abbas. Nowadays, when he speaks, the negative connotation of propaganda is all too evident. We hear nothing but rumors, allegations, and an abundant supply of outright lies from him.

Here is an excerpt (in italics) from the Eye of Prophecy article entitled, If You Tell a Big Lie Long Enough… (Posted 10-10-15):

Muslims in general, Palestinian Arabs in particular, and entirely too many nations and news sources have become increasingly confident of global impunity to and world-wide acceptance of what they say; to the extent that no matter how big the lie or omission, nations and peoples will now or one day soon believe them.

Moreover, it’s abundantly clear that the growing deadly attacks on Israeli civilians is a result of incitement directly from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas; who is himself becoming progressively and intensely bolder in his proliferation of big lies about Israel and the Jews. As epitomized in his recent speech of September 30th to the United Nations General Assembly, he is overtly implementing the Muslim strategy of distorting events and facts to the point of literally rewriting history. Middle East history as found in the Palestinian education system and textbooks and journalism and maps is markedly different from the real history of Israel’s existence, especially since 1948.

pa-map

(Palestinian Map of Israel)

In that article, I also quoted several parts of Abbas’ inflammatory and mendacity-laced speech to the United Nations.

In a subsequent Eye of Prophecy article, More Palestinian Lies (posted 2-20-16)), primarily on the topic of the “lone-wolf” attacks that began in October, 2015, mostly by young Palestinians, I wrote:

Just when you think that PA President, Mahmoud Abbas couldn’t possibly tell more and bigger lies, he does just that. It’s one thing for his own people to be deceived by this bombast that is designed to incite them to even more vicious attacks on innocent Israelis; it’s quite another for dignitaries all over the world to turn their collective heads away from what is really happening in Israel and stick those same uninformed heads in Arabic quick sand. Either through ignorance or deliberate distortion of the facts, even our U.S. President doesn’t truly understand the real reasons for Palestinian violence in Israel, or Muslim atrocities in the rest of the world. Mainly because he doesn’t really grasp the significance of Islamic goals of world domination, fostered by uprisings and isolated but incessant attacks on the “infidels.” Summed up in one word: Jihad.

PA President Abbas went on to say that the Palestinians were simply employing, “…all peaceful means” to “resist Israeli occupation.” This noble pursuit of a “peaceful” strategy to resist an Israeli occupation that doesn’t exist in the first place has resulted in the deaths of 30+ Israeli Jews with dozens more injured; as well as some 170 Palestinians—many of them children—who have launched these “lone-wolf” attacks to carry out the abhorrent self-fulfilling prophecy of the politically corrupt and morally bankrupt Palestinian Authority.

A Ridiculous Hoax, Yet Horrendous “Anti-Semitic Blood Libel”

PA President Abbas recently condescended to an even lower (lowest … worst) level of lies about and libel against Israel with his speech to the European Parliament on June 23, 2016; ostensibly to tell the European lawmakers that the Palestinians are still very much interested in a two-state solution in Israel.

He pleaded with EU leaders to save Palestinians from “Israeli provocations.” With one of these provocations a plot described by Abbas as, “…a number of rabbis in Israel announced, and made a clear announcement, demanding that their government poison the water to kill the Palestinians.”

In the same context of this deliberate hoax (lie), Abbas also said that he and the Palestinians, “…are against terrorism in whatever form it may take, and whoever carries it out.”

More on his “against terrorism” comment later in today’s article. For now we only need to see that he was deceitfully diverting attention away from the ongoing Palestinian acts of terrorism against the Jews by suggesting that the Israelis were, themselves, guilty of terrorist acts of violence (plotting to poison Palestinian wells).

He went on to say, “Once the occupation (meaning what he and much of the world thinks is Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories) ends, terrorism will disappear, there will be no more terrorism in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world.”

*Note: At the very least that may be the most naïve, uninformed (stupid) statement ever made, and to a group of national leaders and lawmakers, no less. At the very worst, it is a flagrantly false, malicious indictment against Israel; that, in no uncertain terms, accuses Israel of being the sole reason that terrorism (of all kinds, from all sources) exists in the world, i.e. because the Jews “occupy” so-called Palestinian territories. In case someone thinks my use of the word, stupid, is inappropriate and/or too harsh, read with me the words of the Psalmist:

“Arrogant people smear me with lies … Their hearts are dull and stupid, but I delight in your instructions” (Psalm 119:69-70).

During his insidious speech, Abbas received standing ovations from members of the European Parliament. These are supposed to be intelligent, informed lawmakers—similar in role and stature to the United States Senate and House of Representatives. The last I heard, standing ovations were reserved for speakers who are believed and revered by their audience. It’s the “believed” part that should scare us the most.

abbas-EU

(European Parliament Standing Ovation for Mahmoud Abbas)

It no longer matters to Mahmoud Abbas and his Palestinian Authority, or to Hamas, or to Hezbollah, or to Iran, or to most Muslim nations how many fabrications they foist on both uninformed and informed listeners; or how belligerent they are toward Israel. Their twisted tactics have become pathetically plain. The more lies they tell and the bigger those lies, the more likely it is that some people will believe most or all of them; and a lot of people will believe some of them. With their warped objective accomplished: If enough people in Europe and Russia and the United States and other less powerful nations all over the globe believe that Israel is doing just a few of the things that they are falsely accused of, they will continue or begin to support the Palestinian narrative no matter the real history of Israel and no matter the truth of what is taking place there.

It was also an increase in the severity of inflammatory lies spread by Abbas that incited his people to begin the lone wolf attacks last year—a falsehood that the Jews were desecrating Temple Mount.

Reaction to the Blatantly False Accusation of Israel Poisoning Palestinian Water Supplies

As expected, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promptly rebuffed Abbas’ absurd accusations. Said Netanyahu:

“I think that Abu Mazen (Netanyahu often refers to Abbas by his given or original name), last week, again proved to the entire world that he is not interested in direct negotiations with Israel. Worse, he also spread abhorrent lies about the State of Israel and Judaism.”

Netanyahu was referring to two things in his rebuttal: (1) Mahmoud Abbas had just a couple of days earlier refused to meet with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin (also in Europe at the same time as Abbas) who had invited Abbas to renew preliminary discussions of a two-state solution. Which is what Benjamin meant by Abbas not being interested in direct negotiations with Israel … which Abbas is not.

Instead, Mahmoud Abbas wants the international community to sanction Israel and force the Israelis to adopt previous roadmaps for peace, including pre-1967 territory lines that would leave the Jews virtually defenseless for much of north central and northeast Israel, not the least of which is the strategic Golan Heights.

As I’ve said periodically in Eye of Prophecy articles and by others who know what’s really going on in Israel: The Palestinians don’t actually want a state of their own. If they did, they would have had one by now … actually as long ago as 1948. What they really want is for Jews to no longer be a nation … for Israel to cease to exist as a sovereign state. Which is why, to this day, the Palestinians (and all but two Muslim nations … Egypt and Jordan) do not recognize Israel as a Jewish State.

(2) The second part of Netanyahu’s response was, of course, reference to the “abhorrent lies” about rabbis (Judaism) and the Israeli government plotting to poison Palestinian water supplies.

Netanyahu-23

(Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Press Conference in Reaction to Mahmoud Abbas’ False Allegations of Poisoning Palestinian Water)

Former Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren, a respected and recognized historian, had harsher words for these preposterous charges. Comparing it to the blood libels against the Jews during the Black Plague of the middle Ages, current Knesset Member Oren replied:

“…objectively, empirically, and historically it was a blood libel. Tens of thousands of Jews lost their lives because of these rumors. It’s not just any anti-Semitic comment. It is an anti-Semitic comment that has deep and horrific reverberations for Europe and Europe’s history.”

*Note: Not only during and after the 14th century Black Plague that Jews were accused of starting (you guessed it … by allegedly poisoning the water in many wells), but also these same kind of lies and libels were believed by many Germans before and during World War II. Which allowed Hitler and the Third Reich to round up, impound all their property, imprison, haul off to ghettos, and exterminate six millions Jews during the Holocaust.

But some might say: “We’ve come a long way. We’re way past doing or condoning such barbaric acts.” Really? Why then is anti-Semitism slowly but surely reaching alarming proportions throughout Europe and even in the United States, especially on university campuses?

The Palestinian Authority Retraction

Fortunately, Abbas’ outrageous (poisonous) rhetoric that accused Israel and many of its rabbis of the plot to poison Palestinian water was ludicrous enough that—with exception of many of the European Parliamentary members present during the speech—there was an international outcry.

So much so that, just two days later, President Abbas retracted his appalling allegation. Actually it wasn’t Abbas himself; rather it was a statement issued by the Palestinian Authority on his behalf.

The announcement went as follows:

“After it became evident that the alleged statements by a rabbi on poisoning Palestinian wells, reported by various media outlets, are baseless, President Abbas has affirmed that he didn’t intend to harm Judaism or to offend Jewish people around the world. This is rooted in the President’s deep respect for all religions including Judaism.”

Anyone can see through this half-hearted “apology.” Of course the allegation was baseless because it was a flat-out lie. But the Palestinian Authority didn’t call it a lie or even a hoax; they called it baseless which was a euphemism implying it was merely an unsupported rumor. The reason they called it that is because it was so outrageous that many people the world over this time sided with Jews (for a brief shining moment!) and/or realized that it was sheer propaganda.

(FYI, on reliable authority from a few Muslim Imams, President Mahmoud Abbas owns a beautiful green oasis in Antarctica that he will sell you at half-price if you buy it sight unseen! Not to worry. If this alleged statement proves not to be true, I’ll ask the Palestinian Authority to print a retraction on my behalf. On second thought, for me, they may use the term, scandalous lie instead of baseless; and that I intended to harm Islam and the Muslim people).

Back to (sometimes repulsive) reality!

The retraction didn’t say that Abbas was sorry that he had broadcast such a slanderous story to (because of media coverage of his speech) the whole world. Rather, the communique simply said that it wasn’t Abbas’ intent to harm Judaism or Jewish people! Once again, anyone with even the slightest degree of awareness of what’s taking place in Israel knows that both Abbas and many of the Palestinian people have done and will continue to do everything they can to “harm the Jewish people.” Including murder.

Yet, even murder is not enough. If a Palestinian terrorist succeeds in his/her diabolical mission, they are eulogized to the extent of a monthly stipend to their family, posters of their picture throughout the West Bank and Gaza, and streets named after them. Is there any street in America named, Lee Harvey Oswald?

Regarding Abbas’ purported respect for “all religions including Judaism,” I could provide dozens of examples to the contrary if time/space permitted in this article. As it is, I will mention only one: If, indeed, Abbas harbors “respect” (which supposedly would include the modern-day emphasis on tolerance and diversity) for all religions including Judaism; then why doesn’t he allow Jews or Christians to worship, pray, or so much as do anything that looks like prayer, on Temple Mount? Why to Palestinian Arabs constantly harass Jews when they ascend to Temple Mount? Why is the presence of police even necessary on Temple Mount, if President Abbas and his Palestinian Authority “respect” Judaism and the Jewish people?

Those questions are as rhetorical as any question can be.

RTX139QI-512x341

(Palestinians Picking Up Rocks to Throw at Jews on Temple Mount)

The only positive thing about this retraction is the extremely rare use of the words Judaism and Jewish people (Jews). Seldom do Palestinians (Muslims in general) speak the words Jew or Judaism or even Israel, unless it’s something to the effect of “death to the Jews … death to Israel.” Normally they call Jews: settlers, occupiers, usurpers, Zionists, or the more ugly denigration of pigs and apes.

Mahmoud Abbas’ Hypocritical Remarks on Terrorism and Occupation

Once again, a reminder that the European Parliament gave Abbas a standing ovation. For what? We’ve already discussed the laughable but also hideous hoax that Israel was on the verge of poisoning Palestinian wells; a flagrant fabrication that the Palestinian Authority retracted just two days later. Wouldn’t it, therefore, have been appropriate for the European Parliament to have rescinded their standing ovation for Abbas? To have made a “retraction” video showing them booing instead of applauding! Not likely, if for no other reason than most European leaders prefer to believe the Palestinian propaganda machine that churns out lies as fast as the Swiss churn out cheese. European heads of state that appear to support Israel do so mostly out of left-over guilt from the Holocaust. Of course, there are a few exceptions, like the new British Prime Minister, Theresa May. Praise the Lord for that!

The European Parliament enthusiastically extended their applause for two other core statements made by Mahmoud Abbas, as quoted earlier in today’s article. As follows:

Against Terrorism?

Mahmoud Abbas’ statement that, “Palestinians are against terrorism in whatever form it may take, and whoever carries it out,” is as two-faced and double-tongued as any assertion could be.

Read again what Abbas said. He didn’t limit terrorism to just ISIS or even Hamas, which is Abbas’ chief (bitter) rival for authority among the Palestinians. No, he said, whatever form terrorism takes and whoever carries it out. What would anyone, with any trace of objectivity and with any tidbit of knowledge of what’s taking place in Israel, call the hideous slaughter of dozens of Israelis by Palestinian “lone-wolf” assassins?

Because of Mahmoud Abbas’ hatred of Israel, he has deluded himself to the point that any and all Palestinian atrocities against innocent Israelis is what he has called, “justified popular unrest.” To a large extent that is expected of him, as are the lies that he tells to support that premise. What is or should be unequivocally unexpected and immensely inappropriate are many Western nations buying into that logic as being (even half way) reasonable and justified. But that is exactly what is taking place. There is a world-wide effort to selectively pick and choose who are terrorists and what is terrorism; including but not limited to distinguishing between what is commonly called “radical Islam” versus “mainstream Islam.”

Anyone (especially Muslims themselves) who know anything about Islam and the Koran fully realize that those who are classified as radical are doing nothing more than what the god of Islam (Allah) commands. Which is: convert the infidel through coercion, and kill them if they refuse to convert or even get in the way of Islam’s ultimate objective to force all peoples and nations under the Muslim mantle.

isis daily devotion violent verses quran islam

Which is why Abbas refused to condemn the hideous murder of 13-year old Hallel Yaffa Ariel by a Palestinian youth, while Hallel slept in her bed at home. This occurred on June 30th, just one week after Abbas’ address to the European Parliament. Nor did he respond in any way to subsequent media and international inquiries as to what his reply would be to the murder of Rabbi Miki Mark, the father of ten children, killed the following day. Abbas refused even to return phone calls from media sources. Furthermore, he ordered his West Bank organization Fatah to suppress news of any Palestinian attacks against Israelis.

The following are (italicized) excerpts from the Eye of Prophecy article, Can A Murderer Be A Martyr? (Posted on 1-30-16); to further emphasize that there is no difference whatsoever between a Palestinian murdering an Israeli and a muslim member or devotee of ISIS or other terrorist cells (mass) murdering innocent people in Syria, Iraq, France, Germany, Spain, Great Britain, and the United States.

Although these murderous Palestinian assaults on Israelis are perpetrated by individuals (as opposed to known terrorist groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas), in my opinion they can no longer be classified as “lone-wolf” attacks. If for no other reason than there have been nearly 300 such incidents just in the past four months or so, resulting in the death of 30 Jews and wounding of dozens more. In other words, the sheer number of the attackers can now be classified as a concerted group of individuals in a cruel combined effort to instill terror among Jewish communities, no different than a terrorist group or grouping of terrorists with a collaborative mindset and a callous communal cause of killing Jews.

As such, this makes them vastly different from the “ordinary” murderer in the United States or anywhere in the world who kills someone for any number of different reasons, but certainly not just because their victims are Jews (or Christians). Surely the parents, families, national leaders, and fellow citizens don’t glorify the murderer in these kind of killings. Conversely, they are appalled.

Not so with the Palestinians. If they, in turn, are killed in the commission of their hideous crimes, their own people (including parents and leaders) and religion can call them martyrs to their heart’s content. But by all the universal laws of morality, of right and wrong, of good and evil, there’s no way that a murderer or would-be murderer (in case they don’t succeed) can be considered a martyr for a cause that is anything but righteous or a religion that is anything but peaceful.

Which is another compelling argument that there must be (and is) a universal standard of law and truth that can objectively define right and wrong. Moreover, these universal truths have, in fact, been given to us by the true and living God through the Bible.

Otherwise, we are left with the moral and spiritual dilemma that a murderer is actually someone’s martyr. That a terrorist is another one’s activist. If that were true then all Nazis (participating in Jewish genocide) who were killed during the Second World War or who were tried and executed for war crimes after the war could be designated as martyrs “for their cause.”

Thus, when our own President and most of his staff ignore the true history of Israel, and the acrimonious (no longer hidden) agenda of the Arab Muslims living in Israel, they also apathetically disregard the insidious (but no longer subtle) and all too real objective of Arab Palestinians and Muslims the world over: To eliminate Israel as a State and the Jews as a race. All the while, taking out as many Christians as they can.

Occupation?

Mahmoud Abbas also said:

“Once the occupation (meaning what he and much of the world thinks is Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories) ends, terrorism will disappear, there will be no more terrorism in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world.”

The so-called Israeli occupation of a small portion of the “West Bank” by alleged “Israeli settlers” continues to be the biggest lie foisted by the Palestinians and the greatest misunderstanding by many Western nations, not the least of which is the United States of America, especially the current Administration. In several Eye of Prophecy articles, I’ve provided historical and contemporary documented details to demonstrate that all of Israel belongs to the Jews. Which effectively makes the Palestinians the occupiers and settlers.

In today’s article, we’ll confine our examination to Mahmoud Abbas’s senseless conclusion (I would like to use the description of “stupid” again, which is a synonym of senseless, but I won’t): That the end of (so-called) Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories will eliminate terrorism not just in the Middle East but throughout the entire world.

Poof! Just like that, there will be no more terrorism!

First, you don’t need to go beyond Israel itself to realize that elimination of Israeli housing divisions in the West Bank would have absolutely no effect on President Abbas’ chief rival (for Palestinian supremacy) which is Hamas in the Gaza Strip. In fact, the Israeli government completely removed all Israelis (sadly, some by force) from the Gaza Strip in 2005.

And what did the Palestinians promptly do? They tore down buildings and greenhouses built by the Jews that could have provided instant housing, agricultural, and commercial enterprises for them. Followed soon by several episodes of Palestinian missiles and mortars lobbed into Israel from Gaza. Followed by the obviously justified need for the IDF to intervene and protect Israeli citizens.

What planet does Abbas live on? Does he seriously think that the daily terrorism against civilians in Syria and Iraq and Muslim lone-wolf attacks throughout Europe and the United States will stop overnight just because a few Israeli settlements were disbanded in the West Bank?

The glaring fact is this: The vast majority of militant Muslim Arabs and non-Arabs (such as Iran), couldn’t care less about Jewish settlements in the West Bank. That is also true with the majority of “mainstream, moderate Muslims.” Most of them didn’t blink an eye when Israel vacated the Gaza Strip. But they danced in the streets when the Twin Towers fell. And they hand out gifts and sweets when Israeli Jews are hacked, stabbed, shot, and beaten to death throughout Israel. Excuse me, I forgot to include death by high-speed vehicles used as weapons.

In an article by one of my favorite Israeli columnists, Ruthie Blum, reprinted in Israel Hayom and also Prophecy News Watch, she cites and comments on a recent publication by ISIS in their on-line news source, Dabiq. (Yes, ISIS has their own media). ISIS gives six reasons why, “We hate you and want to fight you.” That article was given the title, Break the Cross, and was directed primarily toward Christians. Yet it’s clear: The post also includes anyone and everyone who opposes the right of ISIS to be the supreme Islamic Caliphate in the Middle East and Islam’s right to govern the globe through Sharia Law.

138978554647658386a_b.png

(Writer Ruthie Blum Also Appears on Israeli Television)

Space in today’s article does not permit quotation of the six reasons. However, rest assured that the article says nothing at all about withdrawal of Jewish settlements (occupation); or that ISIS would cease and desist from all terrorist attacks if Israel complied with Palestinian demands as Mahmoud Abbas so arrogantly and foolishly claims.

Nonetheless, I will quote the final overriding reason given by ISIS explaining why they will continue their barbaric torture, mutilation, and murder of innocent people the world over.

Here it is, ISIS talking:

“What’s important to understand here is that although some might argue that your foreign policies are the extent of what drives our hatred, this particular reason for hating you is secondary … The fact is, even if you were to stop bombing us, imprisoning us, torturing us, vilifying us, and usurping our lands, we would continue to hate you because our primary reason for hating you will not cease to exist until you embrace Islam” (italics for emphasis).

The “usurping our lands” could be stretched to include Palestinian territory in Israel, but the larger context includes all Middle East, European, and African nations/territory that were at one time partially or fully controlled by Muslims, including the Ottoman Turk Empire defeated by British and allies during World War I.

Rather than summarizing with my own editorial comments, some of which I’ve already submitted in today’s article (as also found in a few prior Eye of Prophecy articles on this subject), I’ll defer to Ruthie Blum’s observations, as they track closely with mine and several others who are ardent students of Scripture and/or Middle East events, both historical and contemporary.

She states: “But it is the response of the West, which has been suffering increasingly bloody attacks on its shores, that is both baffling and worrisome. On the one hand, Americans and Europeans view Islamic State as the world’s ultimate bogeyman—one worth defeating, even on the battlefield. On the other hand, the very same leaders and pundits who have reached a consensus on the evil nature of Islamic State remain in denial about the many other Islamist organizations and “lone wolves” who commit atrocities on their behalf.

“What those leaders and pundits choose not to see is that though Islamic State terrorists may be a bit more theatrical than competing killers, they are not worse than members of Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, al-Qaida or Boko Haram. Indeed, though their PR machine is as well-oiled as their literature is articulate, they are not more deserving of eradication than the others. Indeed, every point on Islamic State’s list could have been and is made by all jihadis.”

*Note: The “Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine” (PLO) was reconfigured to become today’s Palestinian Authority currently led by the “featured guest of today’s article” President Mahmoud Abbas; who took over for Yasser Arafat, the founder of Fatah (military wing of the PLO and now the Palestinian Authority).

Ruthie Blum continues and then concludes: “Instead of separating Palestinian terrorists into a different category—of terrorists with a legitimate gripe that can be resolved with Israeli concessions—the West needs to wake up to reality… Islamic State is merely one strain of the deadly disease of jihad. An urgent antidote is needed to combat all of its manifestations and mutations…”

Summary (Shame on Our State Department)

Just a few days ago, the United States State Department issued more defamatory and inflammatory remarks against Israel, pertaining to the possibility of more settlement construction in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria by its rightful name … part of Israel proper).

In response to what he termed the State’s Department, “remarkable assault on Israel … both in tone and content, marks a new hostility and plenty of sheer ignorance,” Elliot Abrams (former deputy national security advisor to President George W. Bush) also noted that the State Department’s, “…obsession with housing construction by Israeli Jews is certainly not shared by any Arab government…”

elliotabrams-635x357

(Photo of Elliot Abrams)

With his reaction, Elliot Abrams seriously challenged the current Presidential Staff’s hostile disposition toward Israel and its aforementioned fixation on housing construction as specifically articulated by State Department spokesman, John Kirby.

Said Kirby (which he has said before as noted in a previous Eye of Prophecy article) in denouncement of the Israeli government that they were, “…systematically undermining the prospects for a two-state solution by engaging in settlement activity, which is corrosive to the cause of peace.”

Others joined in with Abrams, including Alan Baker, former Israeli ambassador to Canada, who said:

“Reading the statement (Kirby’s statement) … An average reader having landed from space, would only conclude that Israel’s settlement activity is the source of all evil in the world, and the United States is waging a massive war of Armageddon against this evil. No international terror, no ISIS, no Iranian nuclear threat, no Syria, no Hezbollah, no Hamas, no hunger, no global warming. Only Israel’s settlements!”

Things to Ponder

As terrible as it can be, it is not terrorism. As calamitous as it might seem, it is not political corruption or economic collapse. As woeful as it is, it is not war. As horrendous as it might get, it is not … well, you fill in the blanks. These are but symptoms of what has plagued the human race from time immemorial … sin.

There is no doubt: It is the debilitating and disastrous effect of sin that produces pride, greed, lust for power and pleasure, selfishness, cruelty, hatred, disobedience, lawlessness, ingratitude, and eventually death—both physical and spiritual.

The true threat, the real risk, the actual angst, and the ferocious fight facing this tumultuous world of ours—specifically for believers, but also in general extended to those searching for truth and peace—is summarized succinctly in Scripture.

“For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12).

The real battle is spiritual. The real enemy is the false belief system of those who distort, deny, and replace the universal truth of The Bible—both Old and New Testaments. The spiritual becomes physical, the mind becomes matter, and what’s in the human heart turns into action—either for good or evil.

The ultimate fight is not against Muslim terrorists and certainly not against those Muslims who do not support torture and killing of Jews and Christians as the only way to advance Islam. Rather it is against the creeds of a religion (any man-made religion) that claims good works and self-righteousness as the only way to please the god of that religion. It is also against secular humanistic belief systems that seek to silence those who believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and especially those who believe in the truth of God’s salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. For the activists among such religious and secular ideologies, silencing can include actual elimination of anyone who opposes their twisted ideas.

But, there is powerful protection and profound peace against these wicked spiritual forces and mighty powers in this dark world and the billions of people who have been influenced by this evil. It is God’s protective covering given to all those who have believed and received the Prince of Peace, Messiah Jesus.

It is the belt of Biblical truth. It is the full body armor of God’s righteousness, not self-righteousness. It is the Gospel shoes shod with true peace with God and with each other. It is the shield of faith to stop Satan’s weapons from defeating us. It is the helmet of Biblical salvation freely given through the grace of God to all who believe and receive Messiah Jesus. And it is the sword of the Holy Spirit enabling us to understand and trust the Word of God that will sustain us through this wicked and weary world we live in. (Ephesians 6:14-17, paraphrasing).

The Legacy of Temple Mount

News Flash from Jerusalem!

Really? You might be thinking. What’s so new about a news flash from Jerusalem, when Jerusalem, itself, is a daily flash point? And you would be right; another media story from this contested city would not be much different than a few thousand gallons of water pouring over Niagara Falls every second. Of course, that’s an exaggeration, but only for dramatic effect. Millions of people have paid good money to watch the spectacular cascade of water over Niagara Falls. Likewise, millions have been mesmerized by the incessant flow of events from the Middle East, from Israel, from Jerusalem, and especially from Temple Mount.

Earlier this week five Knesset Members from two of the more conservative Israeli political parties introduced legislation that calls for freedom of religion throughout Israel (worship and prayer) for all religions, including, of course the Jews. Which is a profound paradox, as you would think that Jewish citizens, of what many people consider and call the Holy Land, have the legal liberty and religious right to worship and pray wherever they choose.

But they don’t.

This bill pertains to every sacred site in Israel, to include the hotly disputed Temple Mount and its current status quo. For those not quite up-to-date, status quo technically means that only Muslims can worship on what is the holiest site in Judaism and ostensibly the third holiest place in Islam. The Jews have restricted access to Temple Mount; but, under no circumstances are they allowed to pray or exhibit any signs, whatsoever, of worship.

Despite the recapture of ALL Jerusalem by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War, the Israelis relinquished East Jerusalem, which includes Temple Mount, to Jordanian control. Subsequently, Jordan extended governing authority of East Jerusalem and the West Bank to the Palestinian Authority, but Jordan continues to maintain jurisdiction over Temple Mount. Palestinians are permitted to worship on Temple Mount (Al Aqsa to the Muslims), but not Jews or Christians.

This would be absolutely no different than the United States, for example, conceding jurisdiction of the Statue of Liberty to the British, years after we won our independence from them in the Revolutionary War; then maintained that freedom by defeating England in the War of 1812.

In fact, it was this so-called status quo that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas falsely accused the Jews of violating by reason of Jewish desecration (or intent to desecrate) of a sacred site that Abbas claims, “ Is ours … everything (meaning in all of Israel) is ours. The Jews have no right to desecrate them (holy sites) with their filthy feet and we won’t allow them to.”

It’s crystal clear to anyone who has any objectivity at all and knows what is actually taking place in Israel, that this “filthy feet” reference to the Jews was a disgusting inflammatory caricature of the Jews designed to incite Palestinian violence to protect Al Aqsa from Jewish “desecration,” which is a euphemism for preventing any Jewish presence whatsoever on Temple Mount.

800px-Temple_Mount_(Aerial_view,_2007)_02

Immediately afterward Palestinians began the “lone wolf” terrorist attacks on Israelis all over Israel, but primarily in Jerusalem. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rightfully and accurately refuted Abbas’ blatant lie with factual visual evidence that the Israelis are not defiling the Temple Mount or any other holy site in Israel. That Israel will continue to honor and maintain the “status quo,” of Temple Mount. He has reminded the entire world that Israel is a democracy which will continue to guarantee the freedom of religion to all citizens of Israel, including the non-citizen Palestinians of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Ironically, however, this democratic religious freedom excludes Jewish worship on Temple Mount.

An Ingenious Piece of Legislation

Which makes the Knesset bill all the more intriguing and controversial; not just for the Arabs but for the Israeli government and particularly for Prime Minister Netanyahu and his staff. This legislative proposal is both legitimate and shrewd, as it seeks to politically or constitutionally affirm the principle of religious freedom in Israel, while dramatically changing the Temple Mount “status quo” that the Israeli government is determined to honor; if, for no other reason than to maintain some semblance of peace with the Palestinians. However, it’s all too evident that it doesn’t much matter what the Israelis do to minimize confrontation with the Palestinians over Temple Mount; the Palestinians always find a way to incite conflict even if it means lying about Israel’s actions and intentions with regard to holy sites in Israel.

At present there is no provision in Israeli law, as such, that actually pledges protection of freedom of worship and freedom of access to holy sites. There is only the aforementioned pragmatic maintenance of the so-called status quo to keep Jews and Christians from any act of worship, especially prayer, on what the Arabs also call Haram al-Sharif—The Noble Sanctuary. Thus, it is the Israeli police that guard Temple Mount and enforce Jordanian restrictions to all non-Muslims to access this holy site whenever they choose and certainly not to worship while on Temple Mount.

If passed, the bill would enhance the existing law of religious freedom in Israel by, “protecting the holy places, (allowing) freedom of worship for all religions with free and fixed access, so that this fundamental right will be defined by law and will result in freedom of worship anywhere and to anyone.” That this exercise of religious freedom is, “…a basic right in a democracy,” as stated in an explanatory note attached to the bill, itself.

Hence, a daunting dilemma if the bill is passed: Can and will the actual exercise of religious freedom based on the inherent democratic liberties for all citizens in Israel supersede the status quo of Jordanian/Palestinian Arabs to restrict such rights just because Israel previously granted jurisdiction of Temple Mount to Jordan? If implemented, the bill would be a stunning reversal of the extremely ill-advised decision by IDF General Moshe Dayan to return Temple Mount to Arab control after defeating several Arab nations in the Six-Day War.

As much as I love Israel and ardently admire the Jewish people, their government, and the IDF, the choice to give East Jerusalem and the Temple Mount back to a people that possessed no territorial or ownership or legacy rights in the first place was the worse decision ever made by Israel.

Moshe-Dayan

IDF General Moshe Dayan (left) with Ariel Sharon (former Prime Minister of Israel)

From an American perspective or a Western point of reference, the bill would be akin to an expansion of citizenship privileges, much like the American Bill of Rights. Or similar to a constitutional amendment that seeks to right an inherent wrong, such as American’s 19th Amendment that legalized a woman’s innate right to vote. It would restore the God-given, intrinsic freedom of religious rights for all Jews (and Christians) living in Israel of which they were wrongfully and illegally deprived. All for the sake of a politically correct agenda that attempted to placate Palestinian Arabs (Muslims) into a peaceful co-existence that has proven to be practically non-existent and virtually implausible in the first place.

Once again I repeat what has been said in several prior Eye of Prophecy articles, something that is abundantly apparent to anyone with any sense of what the real problem is between Jews and Arabs. It is not, repeat not, an issue of Israeli settlements or so-called occupation in portions of East Jerusalem or the West Bank. And certainly not in the Gaza Strip since Israel removed all of its citizens in 2005. It is not a matter of a Palestinian State alongside of the already existing— legal and internationally acknowledged—Jewish State of Israel. Most Palestinians do not even want a state of their own, unless it completely replaces the State of Israel. It is not Palestinian deprivation at the hands of Israelis (the majority of Palestinians know they’re better off politically and economically within Israeli jurisdictions); there is no such thing. It is not a territorial dispute over any particular part of Israel, even including the Temple Mount. All of these factors are not reasons; they are excuses for Arabs to vent their hostilities against Jews in Israel.

Rather, it is: Ancient animosity toward and outright Arab hatred of Jews anywhere, but especially in Israel. It is a rigid refusal to acknowledge that Israel even exists or that the Jews have any right to ANY part of the land at all. Which is why when several Arab nations couldn’t defeat Israel in war, they resorted to terrorism or lies or both. The latest lie is that the Jews intend to take over Temple Mount completely and refuse Arabs access, all the while “desecrating” Muslim holy sites. If, however, Israel completely renounced all rights to East Jerusalem or the Temple Mount, it still wouldn’t be enough to appease the Palestinians. They would continue their aggression and not give up their propaganda, BDS, and terrorist tactics until there wasn’t a single Jew left in Israel. An Israel without Jews is their true agenda.

What Will Israel’s Prime Minister Do or Say if the Bill Passes

How would Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu respond to the Palestinians, to Middle East Arabs, and to the watching world? How could he explain the paradox between his vowed protocols of compliance with current Arab imposed status quo restrictions to Jews and Christians on Temple Mount, and a new Israeli law that grants unrestricted and enforced rights of all peoples to worship freely on Temple Mount and all holy sites within Israel? In that regard, Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly extolled the Israeli ideal of democratic freedoms throughout Israel.

Once again using the United States as an example or any free democratic country in the world for that matter: What if Americans were not allowed to even bow their head in silent prayer beneath Abraham Lincoln’s statue in Washington D.C? Or a Parisian forbidden to visit the Eiffel Tower except on Mondays and Thursdays, because only Germans were allowed access during the rest of the week?

Obviously, passage of the bill would provide an endless supply of political and (perhaps) actual ammunition to both the Palestinian Authority and Hamas to affirm what they already claim is Israel’s true intention to change the status quo.

With thousands of others, I am an admirer of Prime Minister Netanyahu; however, to predict what he will say or do if his own government passes this legislation would be speculation at best.

But I would like to think he would do the following:

Reaffirm his passionate love for Israel and his people that he has voiced in the past concerning Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel. This Holy City of the Holy Land will not be divided politically, religiously, or geographically. Constitutionally, there will no East and West Jerusalem.

That he will staunchly support the Israeli Knesset’s decision to grant and enforce religious freedom to all of Israel, including and especially to Temple Mount in Jerusalem. That this decision is predicated on not just religious, but also political freedom that must take lawful precedence over the current exclusionary and discriminatory practice of allowing people of only one religion (Islam) to worship on Temple Mount.

I would hope that Prime Minister Netanyahu would cite the legitimate and internationally recognized prerogative of a nation to claim or reclaim land won in the bloody sacrifices of a rightful, justified war of self-defense and survival (as opposed to unjustified war of aggression against another nation such as Germany’s attack on Poland and other European nations or Japan’s unprovoked assault against China and the United States in World War II). Thus, because of Israel’s victories in the wars initiated by a coalition of several Arab nations (War of Independence 1948; Suez War 1956; Six-Day War 1967; and the Yom Kippur War 1973, Israel has a fundamentally minimal right for her citizens to live in all of Jerusalem and Israel (if they choose) and certainly to worship on Temple Mount.

Benjamin-Netanyahu

Picture of Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu

Once again, try to imagine the United States allowing England full administrative control of the eastern half of Washington D.C after victory in the Revolutionary War, or ANY TIME THEREAFTER.

Once Netanyahu reminds the world of national sovereignty and administrative authority extended by virtue of victory in war, particularly over disputed land, he would go back historically even further. He would mention a precedent not available to any democracy or republic on earth, including the United States of America. And certainly not available to Muslim nations, the vast majority of which usurped the land in which they live by aggression and by force. He would defer to the land ownership rights by virtue of national and racial legacy to Israel given by God, himself, to the Jews as a perpetual heritage. Beginning with Abraham, the father of Ishmael, through whom God would also make a great nation, i.e. the Arab nations.

To this day, Moslems still revere Abraham as their ancestral patriarch, but only as Abraham’s heritage applies to Ishmael, not Isaac. Yet the Scriptures are indisputably explicit: Abraham’s son, Isaac, would be the ancestral child of promise, not Ishmael. Thus, the divine deed to Israel belongs to the Jews, not the Arabs. God knows they have enough land as it is in the Middle East.

Abrahamic Covenant

Listen to the Lord’s renewal of the permanent land covenant that he had earlier made with Abraham:

“I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation. This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you. And I will give the entire land of Canaan, where you now live as a foreigner, to you and your descendants. It will be their possession forever, and I will be their God” (Genesis 17:7-8).

Subsequently, this covenant would be affirmed with Abraham’s son Isaac, not Ishmael as claimed by Islam. (See Genesis 26:1-6). Later the covenant was again sworn to Isaac’s son, Jacob … eventually passed down through the twelve sons (tribes) of Jacob whose name God changed to Israel. Thus, the land of Israel became a Jewish legacy over 2,500 years before Islam became a religion through its prophet, Muhammad.

As periodically stated in Eye of Prophecy articles and by several others, there is not one single reference to Jerusalem in the Koran; whereas there are hundreds of passages in the Bible naming Jerusalem. How can Muslims possibly explain that away? If they insist that Jerusalem (or any part of Israel) belongs to them and Temple Mount (Al Aqsa) has become their third holiest site, then they best use some other argument than the “holy” text of the Koran. Which leaves them with no contemporarily viable or historically reliable defense at all.

The only other possible (indefensible) arguments are:

Religious or Historical Possession/Occupation: This premise is easily refuted by both Biblical and secular historical accounts and archeology. Israel as a nation with Jerusalem as its capital and Temple Mount the very center of Judaism existed long before Muhammad arbitrarily selected the moon-god Allah and himself as the founder of Islam. Likewise with the Bible, both Old and New Testaments pre-date the Koran by hundreds of years.

Contemporary/Recent Generational Right of Control by Virtue of Population: Also, easily rebutted. Arabs did outnumber Jews in what was previously called Palestine (a name given to the land by a Roman Emperor to replace Israel as the rightful name of the nation) for a few hundred years. Even then, Arabs living in Palestine were subjects of the Ottoman Empire. However, by 1967, Jewish population in Israel easily exceeded the Arab populace. As 2016 begins, the Jews far outnumber the Arab Palestinians. Moreover, there was absolutely no (so-called) Palestinian rule of Israel before the United Nations approved Nation-status to Israel in 1947, then declaration of Israel’s Statehood in 1948. And certainly not since Israel’s return as a sovereign country in the international family of nations.

Until 1967, the so-called West Bank (Judea, Samaria) was controlled by Jordan, the Gaza Strip by Egypt, and the Golan Heights by Syria. As noted, Israel, assumed authority over these territories by virtue of her victory in the 1967 Six-Day War. Subsequently in 1994 (after the Oslo Peace Accord), the Palestinian Authority was established to govern the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with Gaza eventually taken over by the terrorist group Hamas in 2006. For security and strategic reasons, Israel maintains control of the Golan Heights.

So, please, someone explain to me and especially to those who are confused about ownership and occupation rights within Israel and the “disputed territories” of the West Bank and Gaza Strip: On what historical, cultural, racial, or political platform and on whose national or international authority can Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas (or any Palestinian) claim that any part of Israel “belongs to them,” let alone Jerusalem and especially Temple Mount?

Obviously I’m being facetious when asking someone to explain this to me … only because I’d like to think that I’ve done my homework (countless hours of study/research of Scripture and history, and keeping abreast of current events in the Middle East). But I’m quite serious about those, including many Americans, who support the Palestinian cause because they really don’t know (or perhaps don’t care to know) the real history of Israel or the rest of the story of why Arabs have become today’s Palestinians. Whereas, just a generation ago if you were referring to a Palestinian, you were talking about a Jew, i.e. Jewish residents of Palestine (now once again rightfully called Israel).

The Legacy of Jerusalem and Temple Mount

Legacy is defined by Webster’s Dictionary as: “something received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past.”

Getting back to what I think Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would say or do if this remarkable “Temple Mount bill” passes as the law of the land.

He would rightfully remind his people (particularly Israelis who prefer not to risk confrontation with Muslims and, therefore, oppose Jews ascending Temple Mount); Christians, especially those who doubt Jewish rights to live and worship anywhere in Israel; the Palestinians and the Arab world; Muslims everywhere, and the whole world—that it was Mount Moriah (Temple Mount) where God tested the love and loyalty of Abraham, by ordering Abraham to sacrifice the child of promise, Isaac. That the Lord rewarded Abraham’s faithfulness by sparing Isaac and graciously providing a ram in his place for the sacrifice.

Abraham-Sacrifices-Isaac_fs

Accordingly, “Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means: ‘The Lord will provide’). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: ‘On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided’” (Genesis 22:14).

What would be provided? A place where God’s very presence would dwell, and did for hundreds of years. A place where all people could ascend to worship the true and living God, bringing their offerings of praise and sacrifice. A once and for all sacrifice of the Jewish Messiah, himself—for the past, present, and future sins of his chosen people and of all peoples. With this same Messiah returning first to the Mount of Olives, then Temple Mount and Jerusalem to rule and reign forever. To draw all peoples to himself and to his Father, the God of Israel and of the nations.

In short, as a result of Abraham’s obedience, God promised: “And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed—all because you have obeyed me” (Genesis 22:18).

Then the Prime Minister would call to memory King David’s passionate desire to build a beautiful Temple to God, one that would be permanently located in Jerusalem to replicate but also replace the Tabernacle with an even more glorious place of worship. This temple would demonstrate to all of Israel and the surrounding nations that Jerusalem was God’s chosen city, where he would dwell among his people … a city that God loves above all other cities. Jerusalem would be the Holy Capital of the Holy Land of Israel.

After David captured Jerusalem and began building the City of David, the Bible tell us, “And David became more and more powerful, because the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies was with him” (II Samuel 5:10).

Then, “And David realized that the Lord had confirmed him as king over Israel and had blessed his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel” (Verse 12).

The Prime Minister would correctly contend that God’s blessing on and through King David remains to this very day, despite hundreds of years of exile from Israel leading to great persecution of the Jewish people. No less than God’s repeated affirmation of the covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob … the land of Israel as a permanent inheritance for the Jews. For these reasons alone, through God’s divine providential purpose, Israel was miraculously reborn as a sovereign nation. She is here to stay.

But there’s more. King David’s dream came true when his son, King Solomon, built the magnificent Temple on Mount Moriah (Temple Mount) long before any Muslim shrines were built on this holy mountain of God. As was the second Temple assembled by the Jewish exiles who returned from Babylon seventy years later … over 1,000 years before the religion of Islam began.

Model of Solomon’s Temple

He would appeal to the United States and the nations of the free world that the blessings promised by God to the Gentiles can only be realized in and accomplished through a strong, stable, and secure Israel who truly wants peace within and without her national boundaries.

He would stir our enthusiasm over the global significance of Temple Mount not only to Jews, not exclusively for Muslims, but for the whole world from God’s prophetic promise through the prophet Isaiah:

“I will also bless the foreigners who commit themselves to the Lord, who serve him and love his name … I will bring them to my holy mountain of Jerusalem and will fill them with joy in my house of prayer. I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices, because my Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations. For the Sovereign Lord, who brings back the outcasts of Israel, says: I will bring others, too, besides my people Israel” (Isaiah 56: 6-8).

Because of Benjamin Netanyahu’s respect and stated appreciation for the contributions to and support of Israel by (evangelical) Christians, he would bring to mind that Jesus of Nazareth repeated these same words, “My Temple will be a house of prayer…” (Luke 19:46).

He would repeat more words from the prophet Isaiah, scripted in granite on a retaining wall located on First Avenue in New York City, just across from the United Nations General Assembly Building:

“…They will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will no longer fight against nation, nor train for war anymore” (Isaiah 2:4).

In keeping with his plea that the whole earth recognize the past, present, and future right of Jews to possess and pray on Temple Mount, but to also share that privilege with people from many nations, Benjamin would also convey the entire context of this inspiring prophetic passage from Isaiah. A prophecy that is beginning to unfold in our generation:

“In the last days, the mountain of the Lord’s house will be the highest of all—the most important place on earth. It will be raised above the other hills, and people from all over the world will stream there to worship. People from many nations will come and say, ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of Jacob’s God. There he will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths.’ For the Lord’s teaching will go out from Zion; his word will go out from Jerusalem. The Lord will mediate between nations and will settle international disputes. They will hammer their swords into plowshares…” (Isaiah 2:2-4).

Summary

Will it happen? Is it possible? Can the Knesset representing the incredible diversity of Israelis, Orthodox, Conservative, Reformed, Liberal, Secular, Agnostics, (Muslim) Arab-Israelis—some who support a rebuilt Temple or at least freedom of worship on Temple Mount even without a third Temple, and some who don’t—pass this law amidst such dissent, even from their own people?

If passed, will Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu provide law enforcement support of Jewish access to Temple Mount to pray and worship, perhaps with justifications as proposed in this article? Would he dramatically defend the God-given right of every Jew to every square foot of land in Israel, especially to their most sacred place of Temple Mount? After all, the Prime Minister has unequivocally declared that Jerusalem will not be divided nor any part of this great Jewish city become the capital of a Palestinian State.

And just a few days ago, Benjamin’s reaction to the death of yet another victim of Palestinian “knife terrorism” (dying three weeks after being repeatedly stabbed); this time relating to another Jewish holy site located in Hebron, Israel. Said Prime Minister Netanyahu at the beginning of his cabinet meeting:

“I wish to send my condolences to the family of Genadi Kaufman. Genadi was a gardener at the Tomb of the Patriarchs. He was stabbed in a murderous attack a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, he did not recover … This morning as well, I say to all those who would uproot us from the Tomb of the Patriarchs—except for a few years in the previous century, we have been there for almost 4,000 years and we will stay there forever. You cannot defeat us.”

He is also keenly aware of the potential consequences through adverse reaction of Palestinians should Temple Mount status quo actually be changed … not by Palestinian bogus claims of desecration, but by perfectly legal and legitimate legislation applicable to all of Israel.

But, then, how much more volatile can the situation get? How much more animosity can the Palestinians display than what they’ve shown through murder of Israelis, because the Arabs have been duped by their leaders into thinking that the Jews have already “desecrated” Temple Mount?

The Prime Minister also said in November, 2014—shortly after Rabbi Yehuda Glick was shot four times (he survived and is active again) for the Rabbis’ ardent support of a rebuilt Temple and unimpeded Jewish access to Temple Mount: “It is easy to start a religious fire; it is much more difficult to extinguish it.”

Which as Jewish author Ruchama King Feuerman succinctly commented earlier this year in her article posted in the online Aish.com site: “Whether he is aware of it or not, Netanyahu is in line with mainstream rabbinical Diaspora ideology, which is the way Jews have been functioning since Roman times. A Jew does not ask for too much, a Jew does not grab…”

She then states: “And yet, and yet… Who cannot be pained and outraged to see Jews hounded on their sacred land? Does one need reminding that Judaism’s holiest spot on earth isn’t the Kotel—it’s the Temple Mount! Sometimes I want to cry out: Enough with this humiliating passivity. If we don’t claim this land as ours, it may be lost forever.”

She concludes by saying, “But then the words of our sages return to me, as they must. One isn’t permitted to force the hand of the Messiah. For now, one cannot pray there. Instead I yearn to see our Temple rebuilt, and Jews from the four corners of the earth coming to pray there as a unified people. May we see this speedily in our days.”

My personal response: Well, said Ruchama, extremely well said. However, I strongly believe that Jews should resume praying on Temple Mount now (and forever more).

It’s clear in her article and other writings that she, too, longs for Messiah’s coming. As do I and so many other Jews and Christians. That he will make all things right, straighten all crooked paths, including the path to Temple Mount.

Whether now or when he returns, without the Prince of Peace, Yeshua haMashiach, genuine everlasting peace is impossible anywhere in the world, most certainly in Israel and on Temple Mount.

th

Things to Ponder

There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever: We are living in the Omega generation, the generation that will see the return of Messiah Jesus. The end time signs are overwhelming in frequency and clarity.

God’s discipline of his special possession, the Jews and Israel, ended after the worst affliction they have ever suffered … the Holocaust. The Lord called them back and they were reborn as a people and as a nation, with their ancient language restored. Gentile domination of Jews and Israel ended in 1967, when Israel reclaimed ultimate authority over all of Israel. All of Israel belongs to them.

So let them walk up the ramp from the Western Wall, touch and kiss the sacred ground, and worship on Temple Mount when they choose.

Listen to the words of the prophet Zechariah, who writes about the last days in which we are living, the days of Israel’s restoration.

“I will strengthen Judah and save Israel; I will restore them because of my compassion. It will be as though I had never rejected them, for I am the Lord their God, who will hear their cries. The people of Israel will become like mighty warriors, and their hearts will be made happy as if by wine. Their children, too, will see it and be glad; their hearts will rejoice in the Lord. When I whistle to them, they will come running, for I have redeemed them. From the few who are left, (from the Holocaust) they will grow as numerous as they were before. Though I have scattered them like seeds among the nations, they will still remember me in distant lands. They and their children will survive and return again to Israel” (Zechariah 10:6-9).

The chapter concludes with: “By my power, I will make my people strong, and by my authority they will go wherever they wish. I, the Lord, have spoken!” (Zechariah 10:12, italics for emphasis).

Do you agree (with God)? Wherever they wish includes Temple Mount!

Benjamin Netanyahu, Feast of Purim, Iran, Nuclear warheads

Once Again … For Such A Time as This

“My friends, for over a year, we’ve been told that no deal is better than a bad deal. Well, this is a bad deal. It’s a very bad deal. We’re better off without it. Now we’re being told that the only alternative to this bad deal is war. That’s just not true. The alternative to this bad deal is a much better deal. A better deal that doesn’t leave Iran with a vast nuclear infrastructure and such a short break-out time. A better deal that keeps the restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program in place until Iran’s aggression ends.”

The above quote is an excerpt from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s stirring historical speech before the United States Congress earlier this week (March 3rd). The bad deal cited by the Prime Minister is currently being negotiated by Secretary of State, John Kerry, under the direction of US President Barack Obama. By and large, the precise details of this “bad deal” are unknown by much of the world; however, the fundamental framework would allow Iran to continue its centrifuges (on a limited, but nevertheless ongoing basis) for a period of ten years in exchange for relaxing economic sanctions against Iran.

Prime Minister Netanyahu proposed a much better deal with concluding remarks such as, “Ladies and gentlemen, history has placed us at a fateful crossroads. We must now choose between two paths. One path leads to a bad deal that will at best curtail Iran’s nuclear ambitions for a while, but it will inexorably lead to a nuclear-armed Iran whose unbridled aggression will inevitably lead to war. The second path, however difficult, could lead to a much better deal that would prevent a nuclear-armed Iran, a nuclearized Middle East and the horrific consequences of both to all of humanity.”

Even before Netanyahu’s riveting message to the United States Congress, the timing of his visit to America didn’t escape the attention of several Bible scholars/teachers (including me), as well as a great many Israelis. No, I’m not referring to the pretentious reason (excuse) why our President and his staff refused to attend this historical session of Congress—ostensibly because they don’t invite political candidates of another country to the U.S. so close to that country’s elections. Even though Benjamin Netanyahu is running for reelection (having himself called for early elections, which he didn’t have to do); the fact remains that he is the Prime Minister of Israel—for such a time as this.

I and several others firmly believe he places Israel’s security and relations with America far above any partisan political agenda, and in that order. How could he or why would he not, considering what’s at stake? Even though Israeli elections are set for March 17th; a much greater concern is the March 31st deadline for the United States to complete our (bad) deal with Iran.

Rather, the extraordinary timing of the Prime Minister’s captivating message is that it was given just one day before the annual two-day Feast of Purim begins in Israel. I wrote about this remarkable celebratory event of Israel’s history almost exactly a year ago in an article entitled, For Such a Time as This, published 3-15-14. Beginning with:

It’s that time of the year for Jews to celebrate the festive holiday of Purim, one of the delightful memories in Jewish history which makes the Jewish month of Adar (Feb/March) perhaps the happiest month of the year. They rejoice by reading the book of Esther, and playfully dressing up in disguise themselves, just as Queen Esther (at first) concealed her identity as a Jew from her husband, the Persian King Xerxes.

The article goes on to say:

The festival of Purim will be held tomorrow, just ten days after Israeli commandos intercepted the Klos C cargo ship sailing under the flag of Panama on its way to the Gaza Strip. The Israelis escorted the ship to the southern Israel city port of Eilat, where the Israeli Defense Forces unloaded the cargo, followed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s inspection of the shipment. There for the whole world to see was an imposing arsenal consisting of hundreds of thousands of rounds of AK-47 ammunition, dozens of mortars, and the most imposing of all—forty long-range missiles capable of striking Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and other cities deep into the heart of Israel. And, if these missiles could have or would have (in the future) been tipped with a nuclear warhead—even a tactical one—the tiny state of Israel would be transported to the state of oblivion.

From where did this destructive payload originate! Too easy of a question, right? None other than Iran, formerly known as the Persian Empire.

M-302

Missiles from Iran, Intercepted March, 2014, by Israel

Another excerpt from, For Such a Time as This:

At the press conference that followed the viewing of the confiscated weapons in Eilat, Benjamin Netanyahu reminded the world (he had just articulated this during his meeting with US President Obama a few days earlier) of the malicious intentions and ominous threat Iran poses to Israel, but not just Israel … also the United States. Said, Prime Minister Netanyahu about Iran: (this) “…brutal regime has not abandoned its deep involvement in terrorism, its systematic efforts to undermine peace and security throughout the Middle East and its ambition to destroy the state of Israel … Those engaged in self-deception must awaken from their slumber; we cannot allow Iran to continue building nuclear weapons.”

Last year’s article goes on to explain what Purim is all about. That were it not for Mordecai’s counsel and Queen Esther’s courage, the wicked Persian official, Haman, would have accomplished his devilish plan to kill all Jews in Persia. Just as Hitler almost did in Europe … no different from what Iran’s Ayatollah would do tomorrow if he had just one nuclear weapon at his disposal.

“Who knows,” Mordecai said to Esther, “If perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14).

Benjamin Netanyahu … A Modern-Day Esther

Once again, for such a time as this, Israel’s chosen (elected) leader must stand up and speak out for his country, for its very survival. But not just for Israel … for the entire freedom-loving world. The passage of time, nearly 2,500 years from ancient Persia to modern-day Iran, has not buried in antiquity Satan’s diabolical goal to, “…wipe out Israel as a nation … to destroy the very memory of its existence” (Psalms 83:4).

Amazingly, these prophetic words written at least 2,500 years ago have been quoted nearly word for word in the 20th and 21st centuries by Israel’s enemies, particularly by Iran’s former president and by its current Ayatollah. Then mimicked by Iran sponsored terrorist groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas, but even by leaders of other Muslim nations. When national leaders mouth the very words of Biblical prophecy without knowing or caring anything about the Word of God, then we know (along with dozens of other world events matching up with Bible prophecy) we are in the last days of the end-times.

As chosen representatives of their people and as played out in the extraordinary timing of today’s existential (Israel’s very existence) threat that a nuclear Iran poses to Israel—passionately conveyed in what could be called, the Purim Message to the US Congress—the striking similarity between Esther’s and Benjamin’s destiny is inescapable.

In Esther’s day, the Jews were on the brink of annihilation; as is the entire nation of Israel today. Yet there are additional factors in today’s world that make Iran an equal, if not greater menace than what Esther and the Jews faced in ancient Persia.

Such as:

Although the villainous Haman was a Persian “noble” whom the King had promoted to the “most powerful official in the empire” (Esther 3:1), who hated the Jews and plotted genocide against them, he was not the supreme ruler of the Persian Empire. Still, Haman somehow persuaded Xerxes to issue a decree that the Jews be destroyed. This was accomplished by means of a vicious lie that the Jews had refused to obey the laws of the king … all the while concealing Haman’s true agenda which was extreme hatred of principally just one Jew, Mordecai.

In contrast, modern-day Iran’s loathing of Israel and solemn vow to “wipe Israel from the face of the earth,” without any attempt to hide it, overtly originates from their very top political and military leaders. There is no Mordecai or Esther in modern Iran who (in ancient Persia Mordecai actually saved the king’s life by exposing a plot to assassinate King Xerxes) could influence the wicked leaders of this country to reconsider their plot to eliminate all Jews from the earth. For that matter, there are very few Jews that remain in Iran. Moreover, there’s no way that Iran’s Ayatollah or President would allow Israel’s Prime Minister to meet with them to explain that Iran’s pernicious pursuit of nuclear weapons is not in the best interest of world peace!

Are you kidding! If for some bizarre reason, the Iranians summoned Israel’s PM to meet with them, Benjamin Netanyahu wouldn’t accept the invitation. Why? Because he knows all too well that you simply can’t engage in diplomacy with an enemy who has sworn to destroy you.

But, that is exactly what President Obama and his staff are trying to do! Apparently, in order to leave some sort of presidential legacy, to directly and indirectly (as a proxy for Israel) negotiate a deal that would (by the very definition of negotiations) require that the United States and its allies make concessions to Iran BEFORE Iran reduces its centrifuge capacity to manufacture weapon-grade uranium.

And, so, instead of appealing to Iran—which would be an impossible exercise in futility to begin with—Prime Minister Netanyahu’s only recourse was to plead directly with the United States Congress (by invitation) and indirectly to the White House that they awaken from a dream-like sleep (nightmare to the Israelis) in which our President fantasizes that he can rationally negotiate with irrational evil.

Another Eye of Prophecy article, Let’s Make a Deal, published 12-14-13 not long after the initial “interim agreement” with Iran began, contains the following: Would you make a deal with someone whose main purpose in life was to destroy you and members of your family… How do you negotiate with those who would lie to you, cheat you, and ultimately kill you to accomplish their warped objectives? Where do you start? Why are you even there in the first place? But none of these questions seem to bother the G5 + 1, with perhaps the exception of France.

Then this example, from several of Iran’s visceral acts of hostility, presented by Prime Minister Netanyahu that partially correlates with another portion of the cited article, Let’s Make a Deal. Said Netanyahu: “Just last week, near Hormuz, Iran carried out a military exercise blowing up a mock U.S. aircraft carrier. That’s just last week, while they’re having nuclear talks with the United States. But unfortunately, for the last 36 years, Iran’s attacks against the United States have been anything but mock … Iran took dozens of Americans hostage in Tehran, murdered hundreds of American soldiers, Marines, in Beirut … killing and maiming thousands of American service men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

From, Let’s Make a Deal, article: “Suppose, we can reason with them?” (Here, I referred to the White House supposition that terrorist groups or rogue nations might listen to reason). Really? Concerning Iran, if they had done just one positive thing in the last 34 years to suggest the slightest hint of cooperation or concession, then there might be a slim chance (say .01%) of reaching some sort of agreement. *Note: It’s been 34 years since the attack on the US Embassy in Tehran and kidnapping of dozens of US Embassy representatives by the newly formed Islamic government of Iran. If we’re even a fraction wrong about Iran’s true intentions, then there’s a 99.9% chance they will follow through on their threats.

The Real Deal

Rather, the only “deal” that makes any sense is one that fully considers who and what the enemy is all about; a deal that unilaterally demands what is expected of them without making any concessions whatsoever. At the bare minimum, to enforce what’s already in place. But preferably, to strengthen the sanctions. To tighten Iran’s money belt around its neck until it begs for relief and immediately stops then dismantle its centrifuges, including allowance of detailed inspections as often as necessary.

More insightful recommendations from Benjamin Netanyahu:

“This deal won’t be a farewell to arms. It would be a farewell to arms control. And the Middle East would soon be crisscrossed by nuclear trip wires. A region where small skirmishes can trigger big wars, would turn into a nuclear tinderbox. If anyone thinks … this deal kicks the can down the road, think again. When we get down that road, we’ll face a much more dangerous Middle East littered with nuclear bombs and a countdown to a potential nuclear nightmare.”

Netanyahu continued: “Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve come here today to tell you we don’t have to bet the security of the world on the hope that Iran will change for the better. We don’t have to gamble with our future and with our children’s future. We can insist that restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program not be lifted for as long as Iran continues its aggression in the region and in the world.

“Before lifting those restrictions, the world should demand that Iran do three things: First, stop its aggression against its neighbors in the Middle East. Second, stop supporting terrorism around the world. And, third, stop threatening to annihilate my country, Israel, the one and only Jewish state.”

Throughout the Prime Minister’s moving message, there were thundering accolades from the Congressional audience with some 40 rounds of applause, 24 standing ovations, including six or seven applause interruptions in just these last few quoted sentences and in the next couple of sentences in which he said:

“If Iran changes its behavior, the restrictions would be lifted. If Iran doesn’t change it behavior, the restrictions would not be lifted. If Iran wants to be treated like a normal country, let it act like a normal county.”

And then, “Iran’s nuclear program can be rolled back well-beyond the current proposal by insisting on a better deal and keeping up the pressure on a very vulnerable regime, especially given the recent collapse in the price of oil.”

Here is what I said in the Eye of Prophecy article recently published on 2-21-15, entitled: God Is in Control.

At least for the moment, I believe that God has sovereignly circumvented the folly of this nation and other nation’s ignorance and dismissal of God’s supreme counsel found in Scripture concerning the nation of Israel. Specifically, how abuse of Israel will rebound like the recoil of a powerful weapon against those who despise God’s chosen people/land.

The Lord has extended his grace to believers and unbelievers alike through divine intervention; with regard to the beneficial result of drastically reduced gas prices to help jump-start our nation’s still sluggish economy; and at the same time making it much more difficult, if not impossible, for Iran to finish their (not-so-secret) malevolent plan of manufacturing nuclear weapons. At the minimum, it provides more time for Israel to convince the United States and the EU to wake up, to come to their senses and realize that the Iranians mean business. They are absolutely serious about destroying Israel and setting up an Islamic Global Caliphate in which Muslim Sharia law will rule the world. First Israel, then the World is their malicious objective, as is the goal of ISIS and other terrorist groups and even entire nations.

And, in the context of Benjamin’s words of betting the security of the world on the hope that Iran will change or gambling with the future of our children, the following except from my recent article:

God’s omnipotent sovereignty will be vividly displayed in Iran’s humiliating defeat during her vain alliance with Russia in the Gog/Magog attack on Israel. However, that doesn’t mean that the United States or any other nation should ignore the profound consequences of endangering or abandoning Israel through reckless negotiations and agreements with countries bent on Israel’s destruction. If we persist in putting Israel in peril, you can bet the farm that this nation will suffer the same fate as ancient Babylon or Persia. That is if you have a house left to bet with even before the great end-times battles begin.

Another quote from God is in Control:

Even milder mistreatment such as disrespect, denigration, or constant disapproval of Israel will have ramifications. But if we deliberately snub Israel to the point of scorn or humiliation and certainly hatred, then it is a Biblical certainty: God will snub the United States of America, primarily by withdrawing his protection from this country that God blessed from its birth. And that won’t be a pretty sight. To the potential extreme that if we allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons, then pray to God that one of those nuclear-tipped missiles doesn’t explode on American soil.

nuclear_explosion_by_theabp-d59sy3y-300x168

A nuclear-armed Iran is, by far, the greatest threat to Israel; greater even than the terrorist groups that lurk near Israel (Hezbollah in Lebanon) and within Israel (Hamas in the Gaza Strip). A nuclear Iran is also a grave threat to the United States, but it is not the ultimate risk that America faces. No, the paramount peril to this great country of ours is turning our backs on Israel. To ignore Israel’s safety and to put her in harm’s way is to place ourselves outside of God’s omnipotent protection. We may get to that point anyway, via our inexorable slide down an avalanche of immorality that has carried with it executive and judicial decisions designed to eliminate God from the very fabric and foundation of our country. But it’s a foregone conclusion, a sure thing, that we will lose God’s sovereign intervention if we offer Israel on the altar of a sacrificial agreement with her enemies.

Negative Reactions to the Prime Minister’s Message

Sadly, even tragically, here are some of the responses of our leaders to Prime Minister Netanyahu’s passionate plea for this country to wake up to what radical Islam is all about. *Note: Though a topic for another article, radical Islam is actually moderate mainstream because that’s exactly what the Koran calls for, i.e. jihad and ruthless suppression of all infidels—Christians and Jews alike—who refuse to submit to the Muslim god Allah. Islam means submission.

First, more words from Israel’s Prime Minister: “Iran’s regime is as radical as ever, its cries of ‘Death to America,’ that same America that it calls the ‘Great Satan,’ as loud as ever. Now, this shouldn’t be surprising, because the ideology of Iran’s revolutionary regime is deeply rooted in militant Islam, and that’s why this regime will always be an enemy of America. Don’t be fooled. The battle between Iran and ISIS doesn’t turn Iran into a friend of America. Iran and ISIS are competing for the crown of militant Islam. One calls itself the Islamic Republic. The other calls itself the Islamic State. Both want to impose a militant Islamic empire first on the region and then on the entire world. They just disagree among themselves who will be the ruler of that empire.”

Netanyahu then concludes that portion of his speech with this profound warning: “In this deadly game of thrones, there’s no place for America or for Israel, no peace for Christians, Jews, or Muslims who don’t share the Islamist medieval creed, no rights for women, no freedom for anyone. So when it comes to Iran and ISIS, the enemy of your enemy is (still) your enemy.”

Adverse Responses:

President Barack Obama: Essentially, he concluded that Netanyahu said nothing new, that it was the same kind of speech he delivered when the US, “came to the interim deal … about how dangerous that deal was going to be…” He further said that Netanyahu, “offered no viable alternative.”

Comment: First, the recent speech contained many new and different points, not the least of which was a concrete solution to the problem, which has already been summarized in this article. Second, of course some of the speech was repetitive of past statements made by Israel’s Prime Minister. Because Israel understands her enemies far better than the current administration of the United States when the interim agreement began in 2013, Benjamin Netanyahu at that time said, “The most dangerous regime in the world must not be allowed to have the most dangerous weapon in the world … we will not allow Iran to receive a military nuclear capability.”

When the stakes are so high, such warnings need to be repeated … over and over and over. Referring to the Holocaust, Jews have incessantly echoed, “Never again.” As did Benjamin Netanyahu in his speech when he recognized and honored holocaust survivor and Nobel Prize winner, Elie Wiesel.

We all must be reminded continually how apocalyptically serious Iran is in its misguided messianic pursuit of world supremacy, beginning with Israel’s destruction.

In other words, if the White House thinks that Iran (because of its status as a nation) is different from the terrorist organizations it supports (such as Hezbollah and Hamas) or because Iran doesn’t like ISIS usurping Iran’s Islamic goals of a global Caliphate, that they can reason with Iran … well, it’s the proverbial, “You better think again.”

Vice President Joe Biden: Conveniently travelling abroad.

Comment: No comment needed; his absence said it all.

Secretary of State, John Kerry: Equally convenient, he was in Geneva where negotiations are taking place between the United States and Iran. In fact, the day after Netanyahu’s speech to Congress, Kerry met again with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed javad Zarif.

Said the Prime Minister in his speech to Congress: “Last year, the same Zarif who charms Western diplomats laid a wreath at the grave of Imad Mughniyeh. Imad Mughniyeh is the terrorist mastermind who spilled more American blood than any other terrorist besides Osama bin Laden”

Comment: Does John Kerry or our President or anyone seriously think that Iran will keep any bargain without debilitating sanctions that will economically cripple the capacity to develop their uranium enrichment program as well as subsidize terrorist groups in the Middle East? The historical image of England’s Neville Chamberlain negotiating with Adolph Hitler for “peace in our time” compels me (and others) to shout on the rooftops: “What in the world are you thinking?”

House of Representatives Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi: “I was near tears throughout the prime minister’s speech…” She then gave the reason for her sorrow: “…saddened by the insult to the intelligence of the United States as part of the P5 + 1 nations … and saddened by the condescension toward our knowledge of the threat posed by Iran and our broader commitment to preventing nuclear proliferation.”

Comment: Seriously? Does she actually believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu insulted the United States (meaning her and other liberal versions of America which, among other things, includes a gross miscalculation of Islamic objectives) intelligence—perhaps meaning actual intelligence agencies like the CIA but also the US capacity to grasp the issues? Does she truly believe that the Prime Minister is condescending to the White House by underestimating or belittling or trivializing the U.S. recognition of what a nuclear Iran means to the world?

I’ve followed the career of Benjamin Netanyahu for many years now. I can say with utmost certainty: He unconditionally respects the United States and cherishes Israel’s relationship with this great country. He fully appreciates that the United States understands the danger of a nuclear-armed Iran, primarily to Israel but also to America, herself. But he also realizes that a good many in America, including the presidential staff and some in the Congress, simply don’t grasp the doomed strategy of negotiating with one of the three Axis of Evil nations … as former President George W. Bush classified Iran.

Summary

Let’s Make a Deal was a hit television game show years ago, full of fun and prizes. But we must not play such a game with Iran, because it’s a deadly game. To make a deal with what very well could become a nuclear monster is to make a deal with the devil. A deal void of any fun; rather one filled with fatal consequences. A deal where the prize goes to the enemy: the severed head of Israel and (possibly) America perched on an Islamic nuclear mushroom.

Explosion_Nuclear-300x187

Instead, we lay down unqualified conditions that stipulate complete compliance. If our adversary refuses to abide by the terms, then we tighten the economic screws. If that doesn’t convince the enemy, then we resort to a harsher solution. If it means war, so be it. Prime Minister Netanyahu prefers a “better deal” over war and so do I, and so do you. But if Iran doesn’t want (or lies about keeping such an agreement) a better deal, sooner or later war is what we will get by making concessions to an enemy committed to our ruin. The ultimate difference is war on our terms, not theirs. If that means a preemptive strike by Israel, then the United States should support that initiative in whatever form it takes to accomplish the objective.

This was no less true with Napoleon’s France, Hitler’s Germany, Mussolini’s Italy, the Empire of Japan, Stalin’s Russia, Mao tse-Tung’s China, North Korea’s Kim Jong(s) father and son, and any other number of despots and despotic governments throughout history. Had the allies intervened in the 1930s against Hitler’s blatant disregard for and deliberate violation of the armistice conditions of the First World War … well, many blanks could be filled in with that scenario. Including the probability that there would not have been a Second World War.

We must understand beyond all doubt: Satan’s hideous resolve and horrifying reprisals against the Jews and Israel have been ruthlessly relentless. From Pharaoh to Haman, from Haman to Herod, from Herod to Hitler, from Hitler to Hezbollah and Hamas … to venomous Ayatollahs and Imams bent on Israel’s destruction.

Things to Ponder

We are in a battle, a struggle of physical and (even more so) spiritual life and death with the forces of wickedness. We cannot, we must not let down our guard. The only way we can truly comprehend and then confront the insidious, devastating effect of both religious and irreligious lies, hate, evil, and darkness in this world is to first acknowledge the source of absolute truth, love, good, and light … which is God; expressed through his very image, Messiah Jesus … vividly portrayed in God’s Word, the Bible.

God’s love and light reaches out to mankind’s free will to choose and says, “If you will only believe and receive the way, truth, and life through my Son.”

Hate and the darkness of evil says, “You will (do this or that) or else.” That is exactly what Islam teaches through the Koran and which millions of Muslims (not just terrorists) firmly believe … forced conversion through deprivation, torture, and death if you refuse to submit.

“Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them … But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said, ‘Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light’” (Ephesians 5:10-14).

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, ‘I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life’” (John 8:12).

Jesus-jesus-7243524-500-375

Let believers in the true Messiah, Jesus, continue to pray that our President, and all who are stumbling around in the darkness of bad deals, turn on the light!

May God bless America?! He will, if America blesses Israel!

Benjamin Netanyahu, Holy Sites, Pope Francis, The Vatican

The Vatican in Jerusalem!

News Flash! “Israeli Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld says police have ‘stepped up’ patrols and surveillance across the country, and that thousands of police officers will be deployed during the pope’s visit to ensure it goes smoothly.” (Source: Israel Hayom, May 14, 2014). Rosenfeld’s statement was in direct response to the Roman Catholic official in charge of the Vatican’s properties in the Holy Land, who urged Israel to protect Christian holy sites including churches and monasteries in Jerusalem that had recently been vandalized. And to please do so before Pope Francis’ visit to Israel, Jordan, and the West Bank (Judea/Samaria) May 24-26.

The very fact that Pope Francis will travel to Israel is remarkable. I make that observation in the historical light of estranged relations between the Roman Catholic Church and Israel as represented by both its (secular) government and religious observant Jews that has existed off and on for decades … indeed, for hundreds of years. However, both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Pope Francis I have reached out to one another in an effort to reconcile differences. Whereas a papal visit to Israel is definitely newsworthy, it is also something to be expected in today’s ecumenical and politically correct world of strange bedfellows.

Totally unexpected and even more amazing than the Pope’s brief tour of Israel (including a visit to the Western Wall) is a recent report from reliable sources that Prime Minister Netanyahu is interested in transferring Jewish administrative control of the Tomb of King David to the Roman Catholic Church! Aren’t there enough Christian holy sites in Israel under the jurisdiction of either the Roman Catholic or Greek Orthodox clergy? The answer to that is a resounding yes, dozens of them … such as the (most well-known) Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Why then give a revered Jewish site to the Roman Catholic Church in general and specifically to the entity known as “Custody of the Holy Land.” What is this Holy Land Custodianship all about?

Custody of the Holy Land?

Straight from Wikipedia, we read: “The Custodian of the Holy Land … is an officer of the Franciscan order, appointed by the General Definitorium of the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor, with the approval of the Pope and the Holy See. The Custodian … is the head of all Franciscans in the Holy Land. On 15 May 2004 Pierbattista Pizzaballa was appointed Custodian of the Holy Land, succeeding Giovanni Battistelli, who held the office for six years. On Friday, June 28, 2013, Pope Francis confirmed that he (Pizzaballa) would continue as Custodian for at least a further three years.”

Wikipedia’s article continues: “Today, the jurisdiction of the Custodian covers Israel, the Palestinian Territories, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt…. The Custody has about 300 friars and about 100 sisters in these countries. The Franciscans serve the principal Christian shrines, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem, and the Basilica of the Annunciation at Nazareth.”

Another excerpt: “The Franciscan order owns a great deal of property in the Holy Land, second only to the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem … The Custodian also cares for 74 shrines and sanctuaries throughout the Holy Land….” Because the entire history of the Holy Land Custodianship is far too long for this article, suffice to say that it began in 1217, and has gone through several changes (supervisory control and face-lift) over the years, including a Vatican papal liaison position called Grand Master of the Order. The most recent Grand Master, Archbishop Edwin Frederick O’Brien, was appointed by the previous Pope (Benedict XVI) in August, 2011.

According to the Wikipedia commentary, “The Order (of Grand Master) is a member of many international bodies and has observer status at others (such as the United Nations). The Grand Master is a papal viceroy who assists Vatican diplomacy with procedural support for making motions, proposing amendments and requiring votes in the sphere of international diplomacy.”

In other words, both the Grand Master and Custodian wield enormous religious, and diplomatic influence (some might even say power) as official representatives of the Pope and the Vatican. With the ultimate goal of maintaining a presence in and control of as many “holy sites” in Israel and surrounding countries as possible. And, from the recent breaking news, it’s apparent that they want to add at least one more: The Tomb of King David, the most famous king in Israel’s history. Furthermore, it’s no small coincidence that the pontiff belongs to the Franciscan order of the Roman Catholic Church! That’s why he took the title of Pope Francis.

King David’s Tomb … where is it?

Where was King David buried? The main reference found in I Kings reads: “Then David died and was buried with his ancestors in the City of David” (I Kings 2:10). Other than the general area in Jerusalem known as The City of David, the exact position of King David’s tomb has never been unequivocally confirmed, at least not in modern times. However, archeologists are fairly certain that the tomb is located just outside what today is the Old City of Jerusalem.

Frankly, for most Jews and for many Christians, that’s close enough! Whether the current site is the actual location is important but not imperative; however, based upon a 12th century report by Benjamin of Tudela, the authentic tomb was discovered during renovation of a church on Mount Zion. Not until Israel’s War of Independence in 1948 did Mount Zion—just a short distance from the Western Wall and from Temple Mount—come under Israeli control; and not until the 1967 Six-Day War did the Temple Mount, site of the two Jewish Temples, revert back to Jewish jurisdiction.

It’s much like the burial-place of Jesus Christ, before he arose from the grave. The Roman Catholic Church and the Greek (and Russian) Orthodox Church identify the Church of the Holy Sepluchre as the burial site; whereas, evangelicals and most mainline Protestants believe the Garden Tomb is the real location. I’ve been to the Garden Tomb, and it certainly could have been where Jesus was placed after his death on the Cross. Not only is the tomb representative of descriptive 1st century Jewish graves, it is extremely close to Golgotha, where Christ was crucified. The Apostle John tells us that there were only two men who took Jesus down from the cross—Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus; therefore, these two men would have been able to carry the body of Jesus only so far. How far? Not very according to John: “The place of crucifixion was near a garden, where there was a new tomb, never used before … and since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there” (John 19:41-42).

Yet, either site is a valid historical location given their proximity to where the entire Passion of Christ took place. For that matter, any grave like that of Joseph of Arimathea’s where Christ was buried (hewn out of solid stone) would be a legitimate candidate for the burial site of Christ. Thus, both the Holy Sepluchre and the Garden Tomb would qualify. Personally, I opt for the Garden Tomb for several reasons, not the least of which was the extreme difficulty for Joseph and Nicodemus to carry Jesus much farther than the Garden Tomb. Could they have used a donkey and cart? Yes, but there’s no indication that they did. Plus, John said the tomb was, “close at hand.”

David’s tomb is situated on the ground floor of a three-story building, a former Byzantine church dating to the 4th century; and, as indicated, refurbished in the 12th century, then again in the 14th century. This church was constructed on/in/around a synagogue called Hagiya Zion built at the entrance of the structure considered historically to be David’s tomb. The tomb is now believed to be in a sarcophagus built by the Crusaders, although the contents of this sarcophagus have never been examined to confirm if there’s even a body inside. At one time or another Jews, Christians, and Muslims have exercised control over this edifice. Currently, the building is part of the Diaspora Yeshiva complex.

Amazingly, all three major religions currently maintain occupancy in this ancient building: Jews on the 1st floor where the actual tomb rests; Christians on the 2nd floor because this is the reported site of the Upper Room Last Supper, and Muslims on the 3rd floor that includes a minaret from which Muslims are summoned to prayer.

Once again, the ultimate importance and strategic significance of David’s tomb doesn’t necessarily hinge on its exact whereabouts. Rather, it is the identification—symbolically or factually or both—of the most likely historical site that Jews (and Christians if they choose) can visit, worship and pray to the same God that David worshipped, and otherwise reminisce about the glory days of Israel’s past … with equal attention and hope for Israel’s future. For Christians who really care about their past and future, David was the ancestor of Messiah Jesus, who was born from the Tribe of Judah.

More Details of the Reported Transfer

According to reliable sources, Chief Sephardic Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef advised a Member of the Knesset that Benjamin Netanyahu and/or his staff officially requested permission to reassign administration of King David’s Tomb and even all of Mount Zion to the Roman Catholic Church. Also, in preceding weeks there had been constant rumors of negotiations between the Israeli government and the Vatican regarding such an agreement. Apparently, a journalist who writes for/about the Vatican said the deal was almost complete.

It’s no secret that the Vatican wants to assume administrative control over more “holy” sites in Israel; however, these sites are historically Christian. To want control over a sacred Jewish site is unprecedented; even more so if Israel’s Prime Minister is agreeable to such a move!

Information just a couple of days ago from Israeli News sources, Arutz Sheva and Jewish Press, indicate that Prime Minister Netanyahu has denied rumors that Israel would bestow David’s tomb to the Vatican. To the contrary, however, Rabbi Yaakov Sevila, an activist for King David’s Tomb, told Arutz Sheva there is, in fact, a deal in the works. This arrangement might also include giving Temple Mount to the Muslims … meaning complete control Unthinkable!

It is not a well-kept secret that the US Secretary of State, John Kerry, months ago proposed the idea of some type of international control—especially by the Vatican but also Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia and Turkey—over certain religious sites in Jerusalem. This scheme has been kept on a back burner pending better progress in pre-negotiations for a two-state solution and territorial exchanges by the Israelis and Palestinians, but mostly concessions from Israel.

Pope Francis’ visit will be substantially different from the previous visit of Pope Paul VI in 1964, as the pontiff in 1964 did not meet with Israeli leaders, nor was there any dispute or controversy over Mount Zion or King David’s Tomb at that time. Subsequently, neither Pope John Paul II in 2002 nor Pope Benedict XVI pilgrimage to Israel in 2009 involved any special interest in and certainly not discussion of the Last Supper Room—2nd floor of the building that also contains the royal gravesite. This pending visit is dissimilar mostly because Pope Francis is a member of the Franciscan bloc of the Catholic Church; and his scheduled celebration of Mass at the site of David’s Tomb (even though presumably it’s the Upper Room where Mass will be held) could challenge or at least question Israeli sovereignty over the site—in the eyes of observant Jews and Knesset Members, whether a MK is conservative or not.

As reported in the Jewish Press, “As a result, Vatican sources have said they would like Israel to cede control of the site, a request to which some Reform groups have said would be a meaningful ‘gesture’ towards peace and reconciliation with the Church.”

But to illustrate just how volatile such a concession would resonate with (especially) orthodox Jews, here is a quote reported in Arutz Sheva from MK Tzipa Hotovely (Likud party, which is Benjamin Netanyahu’s own party): “It is inconceivable that this place will be transferred to foreign hands, so that the Torahs and the Star of David will be swallowed in a sea of crosses. Transferring the rights to the gravesite of David to Christian hands would be similar to Moshe Dayan’s decision to entrust the keys to the Temple Mount to the Jordanian Waqf.” Rabbi Simcha HaCohen Kook declared that such a transfer would be a, “national disgrace.”

Israel’s and Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Interaction with Christianity

Personally, I have a great deal of admiration and respect for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He is a consummate statesman, leader, and champion for Israel when it comes to the right of Israel to exist as a nation and the Jews to live in peace as a people in the Promised Land given to them by God, himself. He fully understands the ominous threat Iran poses; hence, his constant warning to his people and to the whole world that Israel cannot condone a nuclear armed Iran. He knows full well what Israel must do to survive external threats like Iran and Russia, but also internal threats from terrorists groups like Hamas. Accordingly, he never compromises on issues of national security and rarely on religious matters that affect the long-standing history, tradition, and integrity of the (Jewish) people of The Book (Bible). If Netanyahu stays in character, he (theoretically) would not agree to abandon King David’s Tomb to the Roman Catholic Church or to any other group, religious or political.

Thus, I would disagree with him if he is, in fact, actively promoting or even silently endorsing the idea of relinquishing the historical site of the Tomb to the Vatican. Yet, it remains to be seen whether or not Prime Minister Netanyahu is the driving force behind what still seems to be more of a rumor than fact.

If, however, the Prime Minister has approved or will approve this transferral, what might be his motive? Although any specific reason at this point would be speculation, it’s safe to generalize by referring to Netanyahu’s stated desire to build a bridge of reconciliation between the Jews and Christians. He also grasps, at least in principle, the difference between Protestant Christians (primarily represented by evangelicals) and the Roman Catholic Church. He has acknowledged and frequently expressed his appreciation for the enormous support extended by evangelical Christians all over the world, especially in the United States, such as Christians United for Israel (CUFI).

As far as I know, Benjamin is not a Messianic Jew, which is defined basically as a Jew who believes in Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah and Savior. Thus, he would not quote from the New Testament other than for historical reasons. However, he studies the Old Testament on a regular basis, and he recognizes the umbilical cord connection between Judaism and its offspring … meaning New Testament born-again believers in Christ. He astutely comprehends the reason behind the genuine Christian love for Israel—because evangelicals acknowledge their debt to the Jews for bringing God’s written word and the Messiah to the Gentiles. As expressed in the Old Testament, the Jews were to be a light to/for the Gentiles.

As Christians, we believe this light is consummately expressed in and by the Jewish Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, who is the living Word of God. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1, NASB). Jesus himself said that, “…salvation comes through the Jews” (John 4:22). Then he also told that same Samaritan woman, “I AM the Messiah” (John 4:26). And to make sure that there was no misunderstanding as to who Jesus was, is, and always will be, he said to all who would listen: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

The Roman Catholic Church, however, is a whole different matter, due to the long-standing rivalry and animosity between the Holy See and the Jews, as tragically exemplified by the Crusades, the Inquisition, the relative silence of the Catholic Church during the Holocaust, and other more isolated, but frequent persecution of the Jews by the Catholic Church throughout the ages. To our shame, certain Protestant groups also have persecuted the Jews periodically, but nothing on the scale of the Holy See.

It’s equally clear that Pope Francis wants to extend an olive branch to Israel and the Jewish people; while at the same time expanding the influence and presence of the Roman Catholic Church in Israel itself. What better way than transference of the complex that houses King David’s Tomb back to on-site, hands-on Catholic (specifically the Franciscan order of the Holy See) control? Which I’m convinced is the main reason that Pope Francis has planned to conduct Mass in the building that includes David’s tomb.

Why Hand Over Mt Zion and King David’s Tomb to the Vatican? Possible Benefits….

Whether Benjamin Netanyahu is behind this transfer conspiracy or not, I’m fairly certain he has contemplated potential benefits if Israel (and it’s a mighty big if) does yield administration of David’s tomb to the Catholic Church. For example, there could be an exponential increase of Catholic support of Israel … diplomatically, politically, and perhaps even economically; not only from the Vatican hierarchy, but conceivably by hundreds of millions of Catholics all over the world. And a corresponding proportional decrease in Anti-Semitism from within the Catholic Church and from without the Church due to the influence wielded by the Vatican in/through the governments of many nations that have large populations of Catholics. Diminished Anti-Semitism can translate into fewer incidents of Boycott, Divestment, Sanction (BDS) against Israel and a much more accurate and balanced view of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; to counter a prevalent world view that erroneously blames Israel for nearly all the Palestinian angst—sometimes to the extent of falsely accusing Israel of being or becoming an apartheid country.

Even the US Secretary of State, John Kerry brazenly predicted that Israel would deteriorate into an apartheid nation if the Jews couldn’t reach an agreement with the Palestinians for a two-state solution, or at least continue the peace talks. Not long afterward the Palestinian Authority of the West Bank reached a tentative agreement with Hamas of the Gaza Strip to reconcile their differences and unite as one representative of the Palestinians Arabs. That act alone negates all prior peace talks and virtually eliminates any possibility of negotiations for the present. Even the United States concedes that point, as we still classify Hamas as a terrorist organization.

It’s even possible that the insidious, anti-Biblical, non-Christian view of Replacement Theology held by several mainstream Protestant denominations such as the Presbyterian and Episcopalian churches (and to a lesser but nevertheless treacherous extent by the Roman Catholic Church) could be weakened by what many would consider a peace-offering from Israel, even though the offering is essentially in reverse. Meaning it should be the Catholic Church that offers something of equal or greater value considering their historic mistreatment of the Jews. But then, the Catholic hierarchy and I suppose many governments all over the world believe that the Pope’s willingness to travel to Israel and meet personally with Benjamin Netanyahu is, in and of itself, a peace-offering. Such a generous gesture should merit Roman Catholic control of King David’s Tomb!

Things to Ponder

Would Israel’s concession to the Vatican be more of an unfortunate misguided compromise than a mutually beneficial conciliation? Yes, it probably would. But whether short-term and/or longer-term advantages or not, I believe that the eventual repercussions will become all too apparent. It will be the politically correct calm before the storm of the ungodly ecumenical, anti-Christ spirit of intolerance that will blindly bind unlikely bedfellows together as they stand with the beast or under the statute of the beast and worship him or his statue. And anyone who refuses to worship, “must die.” (See Revelation 13).

I’m referring to the Big Picture as found in the Biblical prophetic context of the scarlet beast, the woman on the beast, Babylon (Rome), the False Prophet, the seven-year treaty with Israel, the desecration of the rebuilt Temple and other end-times peripheral events—some of which are rapidly unfolding before our very eyes. Although the current dispute over and potential disposition of King David’s Tomb is not specifically mentioned in Scripture, it nevertheless is an inclusive depiction and development of the players involved in the days just before and after the Rapture and the Great Tribulation to follow.

Check out next week’s Eye of Prophecy article and we’ll discuss in more detail these players and events.
